There were custom made discs with more robust coatings that what Mitsui was
selling at the time.  It's possible that their present day "Archival Gold"
and "Medical Gold" discs incorporate this level of protection but I have no
way of knowing right now.

Reading between the lines, it sounded like they were not as friendly with Mitsui as they once were. They are closing the discs out.

   Did they happen to mention why they were closing them out?  When I
was there these were a "hot" item. Granted, I last worked there about
2 years ago...
