Re: [ARSCLIST] Feedback on Laser Turntables

The following e-mail is being posted in behalf of: Bradley Reeves, Project Archivist, Archives of Appalachia, East Tennessee State University.

Anyone have any feedback for Laser record turntables? We are considering one, but I personally have a hard
time justifying the cost for one time playback / transfer of records. I have heard them, and they sound
pretty good, but could not really tell the difference in sound quality. I have heard that laser turntables
will produce cleaner 78 rpm reproduction by passing over scratches and skips. Again, if this was true,
it would seem that all archives would have this machine.

Thanks,
Brad
