Good morning everyone,

I'm writing to get handle on how many of you are using anti-virus software on
your digital audio workstations? If so, what has your experience been? What
software are you running? Have you noticed any problems? Have you heard from
other people that have had problems using anti-virus on a DAW?

Also, is there any published documentation available regarding the use of
anti-virus on DAWs?

I know of no professional user of computers who runs a *monitor* while working. It will take resources at the least convenient moment and is watching for things which will not happen - like execution of e-mail attachments. Even if you are on the Internet while processing audio, what sort of vulnerability do you think might occur?

If you want a monitor while browsing or reading e-mail - and if you accept
that it is not as effective a defense as sound procedures - fine. But
running it while processing audio is like watching for traffic behind you -
while your motor home is parked and you're fixing a meal.
