[ARSCLIST] National Recording Registry nomination deadline

2004 National Recording Registry Nomination Deadline

A reminder to all that the deadline for submitting nominations for the
2004 National Recording Registry is July 15, 2004. Congress has directed
the Librarian of Congress to select recordings for the Registry
annually. Nominations from the public are an important component of the
Librarian's selection process. All public nominations of eligible
recordings are forwarded to the the National Recording Preservation Board
for review. The Librarian of Congress will make the final selection in
early 2005.

Sound recordings selected for the Registry are works that are culturally,
historically, or aesthetically important, and/or inform or reflect life in
the United States. Sound recordings may be a single item or group of
related items; published or unpublished; and may contain music, non-music,
spoken word, or broadcast sound. However, by law, recordings must be at
least ten years old to be considered.

A brief justification should be included with your nomination. For
further information on criteria and the nomination form, please go to the
National Recording Preservation Board's Website: ,www.loc.gov/nrpb>

Thanks for your input.
