Does anyone know what type of file a regular music cd is actually saved

play on my DVD player. Currently, the plan is to play the MP3 on the DVD
player have the audio signal go thru a mixing console and then back into a
stand alone CD-R.

A music CD (CD-DA) contains no files. It contains a data stream which is essentially in WAV format but with some byte transpositions. It also contains a TOC which gives the appearance of being 'files' (.CDA extension), but that is an artifact of the operating system. There is other information on the disc, none of which is a file.
