The conference has been organized to celebrate the publication of Country
Music
Sources: A Biblio-Discography of Commercially Recorded Traditional
Music
(SFC/JEMF, 2002) by Guthrie Meade, Dick Spottswood, and Douglas Meade.
Distinguished speakers and panelists will explore the resurgence of
interest in
traditional music and its representation through popular culture. Benjamin
Filene, author of
Romancing the Folk: Public Memory & American Roots Music (University
of North
Carolina Press, 2000) will be the conference's keynote speaker.
The conference is free, but registration is required (as space is limited).
There is
