RE: arsclist Cassette Sticky-Shed

Dear All

I bake audio-cassettes much as I would bake other s-s s tapes: overnight at
circa 50 deg Celcius. If the audio-cassette has a screwed shell (as opposed
to a welded) I would un-screw it, open it up and take away the top slip
sheet, leave the tape pack in situ sitting in the lower half of the shell
and put it in the oven. The absorbed water will be driven off much more
readily.

Subject: arsclist Cassette Sticky-Shed

Hello,

Should audio-cassettes suffering from sticky-shed syndrome be baked
in the same way as open reel tapes, 4-6 hours at 130 degrees F? Or is
there a different method for cassettes. Thanks very much.
