vendor to preserve audio tapes

I am working with a small manuscripts collection in Flagstaff, Arizona.
They hold about 60 to 70 open reel tapes and about double that number of
cassette tapes ranging in age from about 5 years old to more than 20
years old. For the most part these are field tapes made by two or three
anthopologists of oral history and/or music of Asian, Hawaiian and
Native American dance. As part of a small grant we have some money to
preserve these tapes. I know that the standard is to produce an analog
master on a 10" open reel. Are most companies now advising that there
be a digital (CD-R) use copy? What are the charges for such copying? I
am not on the list so please reply to me directly at carino@xxxxxxxxxxx

Thank you.
