ANNOUNCEMENT

THE WILLIAM L. SCHURK GRANT IN POPULAR CULTURE
COLLECTIONS AND ARCHIVES

The Endowment Fund of the Popular Culture Association and the American
Culture Association is pleased to announce the establishment of the William
L. Schurk Grant in Popular Culture Collections and Archives.

This competitive grant of $1,000 reflects the commitment of the Endowment
Fund to the collection and preservation of popular culture artifacts,
records, and materials in all their various forms and formats. Museums,
archives, and sites of any kind that collect and make popular culture
materials available to scholars and to the public are encouraged to submit
proposals. The grant could be used to accomplish any of the following:

·       purchasing of available materials to complement and enrich an
existing
collection
·       making a collection available in electronic form
·       staging an exhibition of a collection
·       documenting the history of a collection or a field of popular
culture
materials
·       networking multiple sites of a form of popular culture or
establishing
cooperative arrangements

This grant will require a match of funds by the proposing source.

The grant proposal should include the following:
narrative of the grant project and its goals; information on existing
collection and its availability to researchers and the public; proposed
budget and expenditures; c.v. of the grant director or coordinator.

This grant is named to recognize the important work and contributions of
Professor William (Bill) L. Schurk of the Sound Recording Archive at Bowling
Green State University. He personifies the passion, excitement, and
professionalism of the archival collection and preservation of sound
recordings.
