Course Outline
Goal
This workshop will provide participants with the basic principles and techniques for the care and preservation of works of art on paper.
Description
Basic information on the composition of materials commonly found in works of art on paper will be presented, and classification of media and techniques as well as causes of deterioration will be explored. Through discussion, demonstrations, and practical first-hand experience, participants will learn how to examine artifacts and prepare documentation, undertake surface cleaning, and perform minor repairs, conservation matting, and hinging.
