DESIGN:
    Modular, relational database;
    FoxPro (Windows) 2.5 applications programming (proposed);
MS-Windows application (convertible to MS-DOS or MAC)

COMPONENTS:
    BIBLIOGRAPHIC INTERFACE (fully programmed).
Description: Strips information from captured NOTIS, OCLC or
RLIN records for use throughout the sub-system.
Not a true or real-time interface; requires that
bibliographic, holdings and other records be
downloaded to disk as ASCII file information.
May be programmed as a true or real-time interface
                    if/when systems allow.
Records created from this "interface" become base
                    records for system operations.
Priority: UF: 06; Cornell: nn; Composite: nn.

    CONSERVATION ASSESSMENT (fully programmed).
Description: Records structural and condition information to
                    determine effects of filming, conservation
treatment requirements of items being filmed, etc.
This component may eventually be developed as or
linked to a Conservation sub-system within the
                    Preservation MIS.
Structure of recorded information will not exclude
information report as USMARC 583 field data.
As represented here, this component only records
                    information necessary for reprographics support.
Priority: UF: 04; Cornell: nn; Composite: nn.

    BRITTLE BOOKS PROCESSING (fully programmed).
Description: Records condition assessment, bibliographic search
                    information, collection manager information, etc.
                    pertinent to brittle books processing.
Priority: UF: 02; Cornell: nn; Composite: nn.

    DECISION SUPPORT (fully programmed)
Description: Supplies suggested action based upon supply of
                    local conspectus information, collection profiles,
                    etc. as available.
Priority: UF: 07; Cornell: nn; Composite: nn.

    ELECTRONIC IMAGING (node only)
Description: Node, intended for future development supporting
processing routines particular to electronic image
management (both in-house and contract), including
                    packing information, programming, queuing support,
                    etc.
Priority: UF: 03; Cornell: nn; Composite: nn.

    PRESERVATION MICROFILMING (fully programmed)
Description: Supports processing routines particular to
                    management of preservation microfilming operations
(both in-house and contract), including packing
                    information, tracking, reel programming, queuing
                    support, etc.
Priority: UF: 01; Cornell: nn; Composite: nn.

    PRESERVATION PHOTOCOPY (partially programmed)
Description: Supports processing routines particular to
                    management of preservation photocopying
                    operations, including packing information,
                    tracking, queuing support, etc.
Priority: UF: 05; Cornell: nn; Composite: nn.

    PROCESSING AND STORAGE (fully programmed)
Description: Supports end-processing and storage routines
                    particular to reprographic products, including
labeling, packing information, storage data, etc.
Also supports condition assessment of stored
products and management information pertaining to
                    use for distribution or regeneration.
Priority: UF: 08; Cornell: nn; Composite: nn.

    INFORMATION REPORTS (fully programmed)
Description: Reports and machine analyses of recorded data.
                    Reports include the following:
              STATISTICAL INFORMATION REPORT (fully programmed)
                 Description: Reports statistical information for
                              activity in all sub-system components.
                              Reports will include production, fiscal
and other data, and will be supplied in
a format consistent with that of the
                              Association of Research Libraries'
                              Preservation Statistics Questionnaire

              TECHNICAL INFORMATION REPORT (fully programmed)
                 Description: Reports technical information for
"import" into NOTIS, OCLC or RLIN
                              catalog records in both USMARC
