Presentation

The articles in this section describe with how prints were finished for presentation and display with a particular focus on mounting methods and materials. An anonymous author writing to the Photographic News in 1858 contributes the earliest of such articles. This article recommends starch paste for mounting albumen prints, some good advice even by contemporary standards. G. Wharton Simpson's On Mounting Photographs provides a great overview of available adhesives and mounting techniques combined with some really interesting commentary on the aesthetics of mounting and presentation. Reilly's Chapter 10 from the Albumen & Salted Paper Book provides a very comprehensive survey of the methods, material and aesthetics of albumen print presentation with additional information on proper long-term storage.
