6 CONCLUSIONS
The following conclusions about paper and paperboard enclosures were drawn:
- Fully delignified wood-pulp papers should be as safe as cotton papers for the storage of photographic images.
- Wood extractives not removed during pulping and bleaching are potential sources of silver image degradation.
- Lignins are a source of gelatin staining.
- Harmful pollutants from lignins-containing paper products can cross air spaces to damage photographic images.
