AUTHOR INFORMATION

IRENE BR�CKLE holds an M.A. in art history from the State University of New York at Buffalo and is pursuing a Ph.D. in comparative literature there. She is an associate professor in the Art Conservation Department at the State University College at Buffalo, where she has taught since 1994. She received her paper conservation and bookbinding training in Germany. JONATHAN THORNTON received his M.A. and certificate of advanced study from the State University College at Oneonta, New York (Cooperstown Graduate Program in Conservation) after an earlier career as an independent craftsman.
