JESSICA S. JOHNSON is the assistant conservator at the Materials Conservation Laboratory of the Texas Memorial Museum, University of Texas at Austin. She has a B.A. in anthropology from the University of Kansas, an M.A. in anthropology with a certificate in museum studies from the University of Arizona, and a B.Sc. with honors in archaeological conservation from the Institute of Archaeology, University College London. After finishing her conservation training she was a postgraduate conservation intern in the anthropology conservation laboratory at the National Museum of Natural History, sponsored by the Conservation Analytical Laboratory, Smithsonian Institution. She has worked with anthropological and classical archaeologists on excavations in Turkey, Cyprus, Italy, Syria, and the United States.
