LETTER TO THE EDITOR

1 NEW TOOL FOR CUTTING StABILTEX

THERE IS a new tool to replace the Electric wax pen previously recommended for cutting Stabiltex (Thomsen, F. 1988. Hot melt cutting of Stabiltex. Journal of the American Institute for Conservation 27:32–37.) The “Hot Tool” with the tips used in conjunction with a rheostat enables a much higher temperature resulting in better cutting performance. This tool is available through: TALAS, Division of Technical Library Service Inc., 213 West 35th Street, New York, NY 10001-1996; (212) 736–7744.—Fonda G. Thomsen, Textile Preservation Associates, Inc.
