Edison

Light Dispelling Darkness, Waylande Gregory, 1938
Can you guess which famous American lived in EDISON, New Jersey? If you said Thomas EDISON, the inventor of electric light, then you are correct. Thomas Edison's laboratory at Menlo Park was near Roosevelt Park, where this sculpture is. This complicated sculpture represents how science and technology such as Edison's light invention will solve the world's problems of hunger, war, and death.

Why is the subject of this sculpture appropriate to its location?
