Lake City

Wave by Jack Becker, 1976
This sculpture was made to honor the father of water skiing, Ralph Samuelson. He invented water skiing in 1922 on Lake Pepin, a section of the Mississippi River. He thought that if he could ski on snow it should be no problem to ski on water. What two sports did he combine to create water skiing? If you were going to create a new sport, what two sports would you combine? How about horseback riding and basketball?

What do you think this sculpture looks like? The capital letter "G"? A reclining chair? Name three more examples.
