Charleston
The Mountaineer, Henry K. Bush-Brown, 1912
Sculptures can tell all kinds of stories. At first look, this sculpture might just look
like a walking soldier, but if you look more closely there is a lot more going on. You can
learn about the clothing of the Civil War. The two plaques on the side of the base show
you what home life was like for many mountain people. You can see what kind of furniture
they used and what kinds of tools they used in every day life.
