Honolulu

King David Kalakaua (Sean K.L. Browne, 1989-1991)
The sculpture, in Waikiki Gateway Park, is of Hawaii's last monarch. King Kalakaua- lawyer, writer, inventor, composer, military leader, and statesman-reigned from 1874 until his death in 1891. He was the first Hawaiian ruler to visit the mainland, and is credited with reviving some of the culture's many artforms, including the hula.
