Aspen
The Bold Challenge (1979) by Jean Eymere
Since Aspen is in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, skiing is the most popular sport. This
sculpture is dedicated to all the people who love to ski. Jean Eymere wrote this poem
about his sculpture.
"When I ski I'm free
I feel the wind in my face
I fight the bumps with my legs
For a minute I can see again"
Do you have a sport or hobby that makes you feel the same way?
Did you know that a blind artist made this sculpture? Jean Eymere used his sense of touch rather than his sense of sight to create the marble figure holding on to the side of a mountain.
