Juneau

Patsy-Ann, Anna Harris, 1992
Patsy Ann was an English bull terrier who became famous for greeting arriving ships at the Juneau waterfront even though she was deaf. In 1934, she was dubbed the Official Greeter of Juneau, Alaska. Although she belonged to a local family, Patsy Ann become the town mascot-greeting ships and attending baseball games and longshoremen events. She was said to be the most famous canine west of the Mississippi and was more photographed than Rin Tin Tin, a well-known movie dog of the period.
