"The Springfield Armory is doing its part to help save the cultural history of Louisiana damaged in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
"The armory staff will help preserve and restore 19 artifacts relating to the Battle of New Orleans damaged by flooding at the Chalmette Battlefield Visitors Center in Chalmette, La.
"The collection of muskets, bayonets, pistols, swords and medallions was shipped to Springfield after armory staff volunteered their services."
